Your new role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Strategy and Business Intelligence to join our Strategy and Transformation team for a 12-month parental leave cover position.

Leading four direct reports and project teams across the organisation, the key activities during this period include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of the integrated Council and Health and Wellbeing Plan 2025-29
  • Leading the development of the planning and reporting components of the Annual Budget cycle.
  • Supporting the development of an Organisation Strategy
  • Delivering accurate and timely quarterly performance reports and an Annual Report
  • Delivering business intelligence dashboards
  • Providing strategy and planning guidance to the organisation.

This is a full-time temporary role based at our Civic Centre; however, we can offer a range of flexible work options for the right candidate.

This is a Band 8 classified role, remuneration will be $125,409.17 - $140,806.03 (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the superannuation guarantee.  

What you will need to thrive

The key selection criteria for this role are:

  • Demonstrated people leadership, with experience managing and developing a team of multi-disciplinary technical specialists.
  • Values-driven, collaborative, flexible and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in ambiguous situations.
  • Proven time management, prioritisation and project management skills.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess options and consequences in delivering and implementing preferred actions and decisions within a complex and political environment.
  • Ability to develop conceptual frameworks for corporate planning and reporting; and organisation measurement and evaluation; and proven experience in the translation and implementation of those into process, operational policy, tools and systems.
  • Knowledge and experience in data analytics and developing business intelligence to inform evidence based strategy development.
  • Ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and engage effectively with a wide range of people, and the ability to determine stakeholder issues and explain complex issues and concepts.
